Well, readng all the theories and stuff, I have red apost telling that GLADos had crazy wireliess skills. That quote actually troubled me.

First of all, are we sure that what we saw was actually GLADos or just one part of it? I mean, it's like, if we just saw a giant Screen "Attacking" us at any means and destroyed it, it wouldn't mean we would have destroyed the whole system, wouldn't we? I just think what we "fought" was just the part that GLADos had her Cores installed. The "Core Part" of her.

and Second. At the end of the Game, we see a whole warehouse with GLADos Cores. Thus, this makes me think that what we destroyed just a bunch of cores. And here comes the wireless thing. If we destroyed all her cores, she would want some new, right? Well.. usin' her "Crazy wireless skills" couldn't she just activate all the other cores serching for what she lost and maybe more?

Think about it, there were hundreds of cores, and maybe one of the cores we destroyed, maybe the main, I donno, was a core that "forbitten" GLADos from laying hand on the rest of the cores cause they may be under development of just for other causes, Like for example a "non-morality core" :p

Just a thought.

GLaDOS has crazy wireless skills?

Where the hell did you read that? I've never heard anything even remotely related to that in any way - EVER.

What evidence is there to support that?

She can remotely control turrets, and in certain areas she can make portals appear spontaneously.

That's not "wireless". The turrets might be connected to a mainframe for all you know, and the Portals only appear on surfaces designated to producing a Portal (go look at them).

Who says she controls the turrets? They're turrets. Like in HL2 or pretty much any other game ever with turrets; they're just bots. See target -> open fire.

The wireless network control concept isn't far-fetched. But there is absolutely zero evidence that would indicate that that's how things have been happening in Portal. Valve isn't one to leave us to random in-the-dark guesses about how things work.

Dude, Druckles, stop asking who people are! You've been gone for like... years or something, new people came!

I agree with the new dude.

Her cores only stopped operating one they were destroyed. Ergo: "crazy wireless skills", as Psofus_Hffk (...) so eloquently stated.

Her cores were independently powered and processed information by themselves with no outside connection, thus the independently personalized nature of each core. Like the crazy red core, it was detached from the rest of the system where the other two couldn't put it in check. It was acting on its own.

But they were still connected to GLaDOS, wirelessly. She only started venting the neurotoxin once her morality core was incinerated, implying that it was still connected to her despite being detached.

That's probably true, but if so, why is the facility empty (presumably toxified) after the morality core was installed? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Um... who are you...?

Yes they are... o_O

They don't tell you directly what's going on, but they leave this stuff called "evidence" and do this thing called "foreshadowing" in their games. When you combine the two, you can begin to try to piece together the rest of the story.

You know how many retarded, totally absurd theories I have seen in my short time here?? to name a couple:

"cH3ll and gOrdOn r in it for teh 3s0me LOLZORZOMG!!1!11! l0ve tiangl3!!11!!"

"freeman is gonna travel back in time and save eli for episode 3!!"

I can't help but laugh at people that post this kind of stuff because... they clearly don't pay any attention to any details of the story at all. Then, when they try to say what they think is going to happen next... that's called poking around blindly in the dark.

It's like trying to predict who is going to win the Super Bowl halfway through the season without knowing anything about football.

I'd say something to do with what's happening outside the facility. Mass evac and what not would make sense.

I was gone for three weeks :p.

And I can see they're new, that's why I was asking "who they were".

You mean because Valve leave us in the dark? The theories you seem to have stumbled across are not the best side of Half-Life2.net, and I hope you can avoid as many as possible. It seems that despite logic and despite evidence, they never seem to go away. Peeves me off so much. Kind've like Christians.

But that's beside the point. Sure, Valve give us evidence, but we don't really know anything, and there's so much we don't know, it's hardly worth guessing at. Valve do leave us in the dark. But they don't particularly do it on purpose, considering they barely know what's going to happen anyway.

Valve do leave us in the dark. But they don't particularly do it on purpose, considering they barely know what's going to happen anyway.

How can you think that? They barely know whats going to happen?? It seems very painfully clear to me that they know EXACTLY where they are taking this series. They may not know every line for every character for the rest of the series, but it seems to me that they have a pretty good idea of where they're taking it.

Evidence: The Borealis was taken out of the original build of HL2. It's in the missing information mod. They knew, 5 years ago AT LEAST, where they were going with the story. They aren't just WINGING IT as they go along, aimlessly.

Valve knows who the G-man is. They know his purpose. They know why he does what he does and how he does what he does and who he does it for. And how he is related to Aperture Science, if at all. (I think he is. Very much so. We just haven't seen it yet. He has orchestrated everything that has happened so far... why not include Aperture in his plan?)

The notion that they are making up such a complex, deep, detailed and emotional series as they go along is... well it's asinine.

EDIT: Hey 5 points for Druckles for the lil stab at the Christians, btw. lol. Atheism FTW.

So if they know where they're going, then they're leaving us in the dark. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, on the contrary, it's intruiging and keeps me coming back.

They certainly didn't know where they were going back in 1998. They didn't even know they were going to create a HL2. They just left it open for the possibility. I'm not trying to imply they don't know where they're going at the moment, because it's quite clear they have the Episodes under wraps. I don't think they know precisely what they'll be doing after this, however.

Ok. I love the pointless comments people but no one seems to clearly reply to my statement. Oh, and sorry about the crappy english, it was 4 o'clock in the mornng here.

Anyway, as I stated, yes I believe GLADos has "crazy wireless skills" (and yes I red this quote in one threat, I just can't remember which one of all). And the reason I believe that is that she is still using her cores after you detach them from her.

And something else. We are almost sure that the Aparture Science HQ is the Boraelis, right? And the Portal game is experienced in their Testing Facilities, right?

Well.. I think GLADos wasn't build there, it was tested there too. Maybe she was made for more reasons than her name says. I read about a GLADos being on the Borealis waiting for someone (to kill), why? Because she MAY was ALSO designed to PROTECT the Borealis. Well, thus I think that all these cores in the warehouse at the end of the game provide GLADos more potential than just Be curious, angry, math and have a "morality idea". I think that there are some cores there that can "teach" GLADos how to kill, threaten, lie ect (and I am not meaning the childish way SHE THINKS she's doin' it).

And about Chell destroyin' just a part of GLADos : 1st the cores in the WH are activated. 2nd she sings at the end statin' that she is "still alive"

Cheers

"Wireless Skills" are not that crazy. They're evident everywhere. It's called BluTooth. And Radio. Both wireless.

No, we are not sure the HQ is on the Borealis. That is something you just made up then. From the image we saw of the outside world, it looked sunny. On land, of course.

The fact that GLaDOS may still be alive is true, but your method of going about explaining it is entirely wrong. "Wireless Skillz" have nothing to do with it.

Oh, Please don't make me run the whole forum.

Everything I say like the wireless whatever and the Borealis HQ are things I red in the forums. and I said we are ALMOST sure, I didn't make anythin' up.

I half agree with the 1998 statement. It was like the Matrix (except this is turning out GOOD): they didn't know for sure if it was going to take off or not, so they left it open in case it did. But I still think they knew where they were going with it. It just seems too well crafted to be made on the fly.

Like Druckles said earlier in this post... guessing things of that magnitude is pretty fruitless. And seeing as how there is absolutely no real evidence to support the idea that GLaDOS is built to defend the Borealis, that's all it is - a guess. Not that the idea isn't intriguing though...

Oh I definitely believe you aren't making the stuff up. But I am pretty sure the guy who wrote the post you read it on made it up. LoL.

Please be more precise when sharing your ideas with us.

OK, on this thread i got really interested in these theories and where it was going till Druckles screwed things up by being mad because he sucks at making theories so he said they weren't precise. Most important in all read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory because obviously you don't know what a theory is because theorys arent precisely true it is like guessing your cat is a alien that's a theory.

What's your point? They should still at least have credence. I could say "GLADos is powered by a piece of smoked cheese, nyoro~n" and by your definition that would be a perfectly valid theory.

Please be more precise with your wording.

Fucktard.

Druckles go **** yourself
and i never did say it was a valid theory i didnt say it was right i said theorys dont have to be absolutely right to be a theory but it is kinda a dumbass thing to say (mad wireless skills) it may sound stupid the way he said it but she could connect to everything right? so shut the **** up

No. You don't get respect for acting like a ****tard.

wow. I wonder why this offensive behavior here. I have red a lot more stupid theories about this game but I haven't seen such a negative behaviour.

the only exeption is Druckles, I have seen his posts again being rude and desperately trying to prove he knows everything.

wtf?

Uh..if ye are refering to the "Defend the boreails" thing, she shows us in the end that she sure knows how to kill someone by controlling the turrets and deployin' neurotoxin gas.

Yup, she could be researched to ALSO defend Borealis for me.

+++SPOILER+++

Ok, this thread is probably going to get closed any second now, so I'm throwing my 2 cents on top of the pile.

Yes, I think GLaDOS has "crazy wireless skills". It makes sense to me that a supercomputer AI would develop or be given wireless networking.

Yes, I think the "Still Alive" song is indicative of GLaDOS's continued existence.

Yes, both of those are just theories.

No, you shouldn't swear at each other on the boards. Please keep it clean.

your theory isn't that bad and it was a intresting read, but in her song it say'd even though im dead im still alive, but she has a problem telling the truth lol.

i just didn't get what was the point of that swearing.

seriously guys, his new here and he gave a pretty cool idea, theres no freaking need to start swearing and saying, your a idiot and your theory sucks.

wow. I wonder why this offensive behavior here. I have red a lot more stupid theories about this game but I haven't seen such a negative behaviour.

No-one ever denied the theory to be valid. No-one ever denied the theory wasn't justifiable. After carefully and maturely discussing the afforementioned theory, explaining why it's clearly not reasonable, a "goblineat2" seemed to claim he knew what a theory was. Unfortunately, linking to a Wikipedia article, he thought he knew all about theories, but unfortunately he forgot why theories were created in the first place, and that the reason they're called theories is because they're arguable. Calling your cat an alien is merely stupid, not a theory. Theories are produced from reasonable scientific evidence, and not because someone felt like it. There was little "negative behaviour" towards you, personally, so I see no reason why you should take offence.

the only exeption is Druckles, I have seen his posts again being rude and desperately trying to prove he knows everything.

There's a fine line between knowing things and trying to pretend you know things. You appear to be the latter.

You've made two statements, that I'm rude, and that I desperately trying to prove I know everything. Now you attempt to find evidence to collaborate these statements with, and thus form a theory. Your theory might run along the lines of "Druckles is a rude person" or "Druckles is insecure". Then you start discussing why these hypotheses are or aren't correct. Then you attempt to prove them.

So now you know how to construct a theory properly, I'd appreciate it if you recreated your own, because I'm not entirely sure what it is, or what we're meant to be discussing, and I'm not sure many other people quite understand what it is you're getting at.

Seriously guys, he's new here and he gave a pretty cool idea. There's no freaking need to start swearing and saying "You're an idiot and your theory sucks."

No-one ever said that.

I have no ****ing clue what you're saying.
