Glitch / Problem

I'm pretty sure it's a glitch but I just want to have it clarified...

Ok here's the deal, there seems to be a problem where my Mercantile skill seems stuck and won't level up. It was all fine and dandy all the way until about 'level' 20 in the skill, I decided to spend some extra cash and got it trained up to 25 (Apprentice). At this point on though, the game decided that none of my numerous transactions would contribute to the development of the skill. I've tried everything from leveling it up a little more to see if it'll help, or stop using the charm spells, those were basically the only changes I've made but it didn't help me. ;(

Any tips or solutions for this?

edit: Did some googling and found this.

Apparently certain quests can get your stat's "stuck", it's in quotes because I didn't want to bother clarifying it for myself and just went straight for the fix.

Maybe you got to start fresh?

IMO Mercantile sucks, I never haggle, and my guy is rich (he's level 7)

Never haggle? You'd get really bad prices, especially when items are in the thousands range.

I'd prefer not to start anew (at least for a mage), my guy's level 22 and got a nice set of spells to work with.

Well I could always use extra cash since I'm learning new spells / training all the time, and I want to buy houses (one in Skingrad costs what, 25k?).

edit: I might just start a new character (thief maybe) though ... since I got a fix that prevents Skills from getting 'stuck', but not remedy unfortunately. I could just wait until a patch fixes it for me to return to my mage.
