gmod...half life 2.....bleh.

i want to get garys mod, but i dont have half life 2. I DO have half life 2 deathmatch and Counterstrike source, though. Is there any way to get it and use it for just these two games? Will i be able to do that in the retail version of GMOD?

You cannot play v9.04 without HL2 I'm pretty sure. I don't know about the new version. There is a Gmod for Counter Strike though it won't have LUA or alot of the v9 functions. And you can't use HL2 maps with it IIRC.

Easiest and quickest way to find out is to download 9.0.4 (only a few MBs) then install it and try to play.

i did.....but it didn't show up in the 'my games' list.....

That is why you restart Steam.

Yes it should at least show up on steam if you have HL2 or not

i installed it in the C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\ directory. AND i restarted steam.
