Going Gold?

I've never understood what 'Going Gold' means, in the terms of Ep1 nd Ep2 coming out early. what does it mean cos i wana be sure so i can get OB the second it comes out on Steam

"Going Gold" basically means that the product is complete and ready to ship.

Actually Loke u r partly rite, but it means that the game is complete and they have to begin producing the disks and shipping them and creating whatever they need to do.

By going gold it means that the product is ready to be shipped to the factory and copies made. Then those copies will be shipped out sometimes the week before the release date (like Bioshock) or a few days before the release date. Then the Stores put them on the shelves on the release date.

so basically if OB is finished by September 9th, we might have it by then?

I doubt its that ready. And if they go gold like weeks before the release they will still release it on the 10th.

also the term 'gold' refers to the gold master disc that all the subsiquent copies are made from, if i remember correctly.

ah...so you know how its called the 'pre-load' is there any pre-ordering or anything to do, or is it just a download before it was ment to be available
