why do the *"gold"* members get posters and DOD source (i dont want DOD it stinks) but WHY? WHY is this not included in the collectors eddition? Are the "radeon FANBOYS" better then the rest of the HL2 fans in some way?

Because Valve is probably A: trying to get people to go Steam instead of retail, or B: trying to get VU to release HL2 quickly before they lose sales to Steam.

I want to know what the steam package costs are going to be before I decide to switch to it. If only we could have the steam packages with the physical install DVD of the CE. Gotta hand it to valve though. They made the CE retail look like grade A certified crap next to the GOLD steam download. CE's ONLY saving grace is the fact that its a hard copy and its DVD.

the only reson i want the collectors eddtion is because it has HL:S in it + some junk... but shouldnt a CE come with posters + extras AND a guide + more junk?

Yea, I already payed up in full on the CE. I only really wanna play HL2 (obviouslly), and HL: Source. CS:S I'll give it a shot, but I was never really into CS from the begining. I dunno, just never captured my attention.

You can get it back at anytime you want. I went to EB games today and got my $80 back for my preorder. I didn't even have the receipt. They just looked me up and refunded it in cash.

As far as I'm concerned, the CE box should be filled with rocks.

VALVe wants you to buy it from them, not their publisher. So they add stuff. And I'm with them 100%!! Steam rocks on so many levels! Cheaper games, and more money to the developers, so that they can make more/better games! And no worries about ever losing a disc/cd key.

Screw VUg. Between their handling of the HL2 release (its not clear, but theres obviously tension) and their lawsuits against Steam, those greedy bastards clearly do not have our best interests in mind.
