I really hope the pictures I've seen of Gordon Freeman:

Are how he appears ingame. Now there are mirrored surfaces (and video cameras!) you'll be able to see yourself. THis raises an interesting point - will you be able to see the soles of your shoes when you look down at a shiny floor? This has been the case in every other FPS that has featured reflective surfaces. Is it really that hard to draw the character's legs? It would raise the poly count of the view model, but you'd only see the extra polys if you looked down which wasn't that often. Valve would make it into my will if they implement this feature in HL2.
