Graphical nuances of the E3 Vid

I have only seen the shaky cam (very shaky) vid involving CS and a few fights in HL but i was struck by the number of incredible little details that make the game good.

1) Bugs disintegrating in a relaistic manner

2) The realism of the rockets streaking around

3) The way the strider blasted whole sections out of walls with such realism

4) The lower half of the dude swinging around and hw the bloody dents remained looking gruesome.

5) The way the rain got in your face,made it look incredible.

I'm sure there are loads more but i have to go and watch thid vid again...any special moments got any of you guys?

p.s. the sniper shot in the CS demo looked sooo cool.
 
Yeah, I thought it was interesting how people who had been shot with the Strider's cannon (?) just sort of rose up into the air and dematerialized. Not to mention the white out and the ringing that accompanies being shot with the cannon. It all adds to the mood of the game.
 
I love the way the rockets seem to have boosters that make spin very suddenly rather than just sort of curve around constantly. Makes them a little more crazy and unpredictable, sort of like fireworks.
 
one of the previews said the big grenade launcher incendary gun thingy, also disintegrates its victims, maybe thats the same sort of thing we were seeing, the one guy in the strider video did take the full blast in the face! lol
 
it's unbelievable how realisticly everything is done...how everything reacts so naturally with the environment...

No cartoony shit like in Far Cry
 
play nice now Ferd, For FC is taking a lot of flak with HL2 looking so damn sweet.

I also just noticed the fact that the saw blade shot at the zombie cuts it in two...that will be a lot of fun to play around with.
 
CS with physics & ragdolls, water splashing up on every shot/step, etc... *drool*

I didn't see any of the wood on that bridge breaking. It would be awesome to have the whole CT team running across the bridge while someone goes up under it and takes out a couple of supports... making them all almost die from the fall. :E
 
I don't have the high quality vid yet: when the saw blade slices off the headcrab from the zombie, the headcrab that leaps at you is that removed headcrab, right?
 
i thought that! i hope they get that kind of thing in there. Would make stuff awesome if you could channel peoples movements by blowing the bridges up. Clearing areas would be easier too, no camping in nooks and crannies because grenades could disintegrate or shift boxes people normally hide behind.
 
I really liked how the helicopter downtrust creates ripples on the water surface. It might be 'just' a shader trick, but it's still very cool nonetheless...
 
that would be cool...the 1st time...maybe the 2nd time...but it would be lame the 3rd time

yeah...it ails the zombie in two and the head crab is leaping from the top half practically before the top bt has come to a rest.
