Graphics issue

I recently had to reinstall Windows on my older PC coz it crashed, and ever since then I have had a problem with graphics - I cannot see anything during the GMan's intro and exit speech. The screen is completely blank. How do I fix this?

specs-
256 MB RAM
32 MB VRAM (told you it was old!)

This is DirectX 6 level hardware, but I am sure that this wasn't a problem before. This was the first PC I played HL2 on.

Also - Some textures in Red Letter day and Ravenholm are missing. I mean, there are white rectangles in their place. Will validating game files again fix this?

i would help you out if i knew how to fix it but i had the same problem but that was with my old computer and there were white patches all over the place while in game so eventully i got a newer pc

I only have two white patches in the entire game. I think the textures are screwed up.

Please help!! I love my old comp. (I played the original HL on it.)
