Graphics problem, some sort of fog/fading?

The screenshots probably explains it all.

Objects and characters (not world geometry) turn all foggy and loose their colour at a very unreasonable distance. I have tried the in-game settings, but this didn't help. New drivers didn't help.

I have searched the forums but I could not find anything about this.

Any ideas? It is very annoying.

You're right. I updated my original post with more information.

Yeah unfortunately it's a driver problem that occurs on both Ati and Nvidia cards and with Nvidia especially it's been round since they first came out.

Don't know of a fix, and chances are it won't be fixed for a while I'm afraid. You'll just have to get used to it.

It won't hurt to try lowering the DirectX level, just in case.

-dxlevel 81

Unfortunately if you have one of the latest graphics cards it means you are concerned about graphics.

There's no current Dx9 fix.

I had the same problem with my Radeon 2600 HD, and I found that "fog_override 1" pretty much fixed it up, except for some occasional water fog. You can get rid of that too with another command, (can't remember it atm... just do a "find fog") but that removes all fog in water, so personally I just leave that one.

my card never did it before and i have a 7900

seems to be like its the latest driver releases
