Well, as I saw he posts here maybe we could ask a few questions me and some friends are wondering.

1. Which are the minimum approximate specs to run HL2?
2. Is there any planned date? (not exact but like 'maybe' january 2005 or similar)

As Doom 3 was not what most of us spected I got more desperate to get HL2 so I'm wondering this questions.

If they have been asked or a post like this is not allowed, I apologize.

Thanks & Regards

Minimum specs are:

1.2GHz, 256MB RAM, DX7 level graphics card

Estimated date:
Late summer/early fall 2004

63 waits for the night patrol

edit: all hail shuzermatic!!

Okay, i'll play nice. Lucas, the chances of having Greg respond to this are very slim, so i'll answer your questions.

1. Minimum specs so far that we know of are as follows:

The minimum spec would be a 1.2GHz powered PC with 256MB RAM, Win 98/ME/2000/XP and a DirectX 7 compatible graphics card.

But for those who want to see the game running in all its glory, be prepared to spec up to around a 2.4 GHz machine, with 512MB RAM, Windows 2000/XP and a DirectX 9 capable graphics card.

2. No one knows when HL2 will be released, however many feel that it's coming mid september. Could be sooner, could be later. Valve will not specify. The chances are, that it will come AFTER the CS: Source beta is released and gone through it's phases.

Edit: And, this has been asked alot here. The thread will probably be closed.

I hope Coomer can at least assure us they aren't waiting for Christmas. Please tell us September, please!!@!

dude you just asked two of the most obvious and plain questions ever.

for one thing this is Valve. they have excellent coders and i m pretty sure hL 2 will be able to run as low as a 486 ... meaning what ever you have will run fine.. ..

any game nowadays requires atleast 1.5 gigs or speed.. plus this has been discussed millions of times..

if you wanna ask him a question ask him something useful and creative such as do ant lines eat humans on their spare time or do the combine play cards when they are not working..

i just realized that your new to the forums. welcome and read before you post the same retarted thing again and again

i m tired of reading the same question..

and i m sure valve is too.

Doom 3 is exactly what id told us it would be, how is it "not what we expected?"

:hmph:

Doom 3 is a great game.
Good way to pass the time while we wait for HL2.

It's not scary.

it doesn't matter if you think its not scary, macho man. maybe you played with the lights on, the TV on, and no sound, maybe your rig runs it at 5fps, or maybe you're lieing just because you want to diss doom3. we really don't know. the fact is, ID did create a freaky atmosphere and thats not debatable.

Why doesn't it matter if i think it's not scary? You yourself said scaryness is subjective. I watch the excorcist and am ****ing terrified, my friend watches it and laughs throughout the film. I try and tell him "didn't you find that scene just so eery and freaky" he says "no it was a joke, it didn't do anything for me"

Who's right and wrong? Who's opinion matters more. Clearly my opinion matters more because it bows to what the creators of the film intended ---> totally wrong.

i agree, that freaking game made me jump 7 times (and counting)(love that feeling in a game)(altho there was never a game that made me jump, exept Resident Evil GC version, it mad me jump one time)

BTW i was alone at night with lights off and sourround sound up.

your friend might be lieing, some people laugh when they are scared so they can cope with it.

anyway back to the original point. doom3 did succeed in making a freaky atmosphere, if you werent affected by it for whatever reason, thats not their problem.

you originally said 'its not scary', which is false, it is, you meant to say 'i wasn't scared'.

tredoslop ... change your avatar ... dont rip off maddox's shit ...

doom 3 is scarry at 12 at night with all the lights off with your speakers on lous with a sub woofer.

Sound is key in this game to have a good time. =D

I dont understand what ID could have done more to make Doom 3 any freakier. I've jumped countless times and dodged swipes in my chair many times too. They set out what they were trying to do perfectly.

This has gone severely off-topic, so I'm closing.
