is trigger_push even capable of pushing horizontally, or any direction other than up? i have push angle set on mine as 0 347 0, which should push it in a '17 minutes past' direction on the z plane, but instead it jumps about a foot into the air in the other direction

i've scrutinised all the tutes on trigger_push, and i'm sure i'm doing it right

would a filtered phys_explosion be a better option, i wonder?

phys_impact can be better than phys_explosion. I'm not aware of any strangeness with trigger_push though. I've used them without any problems.

env_physimpact. Sorry, haven't used it for a while.

ok, the SDk docs are a bit thin on this entity. what's the difference between it and an env_physexplosion? the effect looks the same, or does the physimpact provide screen shake when it goes off?

physimpact is directional and provides a direct linear force. I believe that physexplosion fades with distance.

env_physexplosion

An entity similar to env_explosion. Instead of blowing up, creating a big firework, and doing damage, however, a physexplosion is completely invisible and serves only to push physics props around. It can also damage them.

env_physimpact

An entity similar to env_physexplosion that projects a physical force in one direction for a set distance rather than sending a force in all directions.

I haven't tried using a trigger_push in source, but in halflife 1 they would sometimes malfunction if they were placed directly on a world brush. If this is how yours is set up try raising it a unit off the ground.
