I'm not sure when it came out, but it's sort of an unknown publisher, and developer, so it may have not been heard of by many. In the US, I don't think it's been out as long as other countries possibly.
I'd give it a 9.5 or 10. I mean it's the best and most realistic racing game I've ever played, but it doesn't have the million dollar EA or MS or Sony type feel to it.. It's got plenty of cars and tracks, I guess my only complaint is that some of the backgrounds of the tracks is a little bland. Like a building has no texture or something. If you know what I mean.
You can unlock cars and lots of tracks, and these are real cars - the cars come race spec, there are no turd econo boxes to hook up.
I picked it up for $19.99 at Circuit City.
One of my favorite aspects is that the cars are set up for the tracks already. Gear ratios and stuff, so you can just jump right in. The game is realistic and very challenging. Prepare to spend a 20 hours of gameplay trying to learn to get those extra couple seconds on the license tests style driving school.. and such.
The audio/video customization options are fantastic. You really can adjust just about anything about the game.
Screenshots don't do the game justice though, it must be felt and played and heard. Real race car sounds get me really excited. :naughty: j/k
Look here at this quick link, tell me what you think.

January 12, 2006 - The first two screenshots of GTR2:
With the release of "GTR - FIA GT Racing Game", Developer SimBin Development Team and Publisher 10TACLE STUDIOS AG caused a sensation. Up to that point, there had never been a racing simulation based on a racing series which was accurate down to the last detail as the numerous top ratings and awards for "GTR - FIA GT Racing Game" so impressively demonstrated.
Come summer 2006, GTR 2 will set new standards all over again! The new DirectX9 graphics engine ensures that the race cars and circuits are portrayed in a more detailed and photorealistic way than ever before, and the sensation of speed experienced with the HP-beasts is even more immersive, thanks to the improved driving model.
The dynamic day-night light cycle, weather changes, and impressive damage system once again provides an impressive experience of the exciting FIA GT racing series on your PC at home.
