Ok, my birthday just past and I got an expensive present, so I didn't get alot of money, but I have $100 and thats enough to buy either Guild Wars, or Guitar Hero, which one?

I'm a fan of MMORPGs, but I have a slow connection, and this is one of the very few games that runs smoothly on dial-up (My friend plays it with dial-up, and he says it runs perfectly).

I play guitar, so Guitar Hero seems like it'll be a cool game, plus I saw some of the songs on Guitar Hero, and I like most of the songs. (Just incase for some reason you don't know, Guitar Hero comes with a guitar controller, and the game itself.)

I'd go for Guitar Hero. It will totally get you chicks.

Never heard og guitar hero. If you're interested in music sotware, check out something called Fruity Loops. It may not be a "game" but if you like making music, it's really easy to learn, powerful, and versatile. You'll probably have a lot of fun too & be doing something productive.

Now, I have neither game, but I would get GuildWars. I'm actually going to be getting Factions when it comes out as it looks wicked and I have some buddies to play it with.

I'm not too sure about that. learing how to play a real guitar definately would though, and so would DDR...but I doubt Guitar Hero could...:borg:

Guitar hero....guild wars gets old pretty quick (click on something, kill it, run more, repeat)

I have both games, I'd have to say go with Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero can bring you hours and hours of fun, without it getting old.

Guild Wars gets very repetitive. Every quest sounds like one another, just different locations and items. MAx level you can gain in Guild wars is level 20, which I think is too low.

Guitar Hero has many songs of the past and present which you could just rock to. Though remember Guitar Hero is going to cost you about $80 for the game + Guitar controller. Guild Wars these days can go for $40 and maybe even less.

But my choice would have to be Guitar Hero, I know you'll be satisfied. Just get Guild Wars later if your interested in it that much.

DDR / Guitar Hero gets chicks? Not trying to be rude, but some of you need to get out more. Even if a girl fell for that, is that the kind of girl you really want?

Never played Guild Wars but Guitar Hero is the shit!

Guild Wars really shines if you have a group of people and Vent/ts, otherwise its beautiful but so so.

Also on Dialup you still have to download the maps and updates so it takes about 5 mins the first time you ever enter a zone.

That said in a group GW is unbeatable in terms of enjoyment. It's a skill game, not a grind game. You very quickly hit level 20 and very easily obtain some of the best weapons and armour (weapons may not look great but they are the best stats wise) After you max out your level it comes down to knowning how to build your character to face your opponents, and compliment your team (IE if you're a necro and you've got a couple of warriors and a barrage ranger taking a skill that boosts physical dammage for your party is more benifical than a direct dammage attack). The classes are pritty diverse in themselves apart from warrior (sword axe or hammer) although all classes have a large number of skills. And that's just PvE, the PvP side of the game is a totally different game with unique strats and builds all in all great fun.

I'd say if you have the people to play with then get GW its amazing, if you don't then you wont get the full enjoyment out of it and guitar hero will be the better choice.

I can answer that with an emphatic yes. (Ok, maybe not DDR)

Wow aren't you a smart cookie! Let's just blatently generalize about a game...I can do that too!

Guild Wars....guitar hero gets old pretty quick (choose a song, hit some buttons,...and hit some more buttons, oh and then repeat).

See how useful that information is the the original poster? Does it not give unbiased information that the original poster can use to objectively decide which game to purchase? You _BET_ it does!

Note...the above paragraph was sarcastic. Very, very sarcastic.

That aside, I would go with Guild Wars. I bought it exactly a year ago, and still play it today. No monthly fees, long lasting fun and quite frankly, you won't get more "bang for your buck". 50 bucks for 1000+ hours of gameplay is unbeatable.

As for Guitar hero, I've never played it but I was an avid DDR player and they're more or less the same. Those types of games can get boring quickly. Once you learn the songs, what else is there to do? Guild Wars has so many things you can do, it's amazing.

I don't think Guitar Hero will last as long as Guild Wars, it's more of a novelty that you might get bored of. So because of this, I choose Guild Wars. I prefer WoW, but I have Guild Wars too, and it's quite fun, as long as you don't have any other more advanced MMOs (such as WoW). It just pales in comparison to them.

Sice i own both games, I must say Guitar Hero. That game rules. It's a great party game as well. Invite some friends over *gotta get a second guitar, or learn how to play with the controller..that's mad fun* and go nuts. It's hella fun. I've put in at least 20 hours into Guitar Hero so far..and that's only in the first month. I've only got one more song on Expert ot beat, and tha's Bark at the Moon. whew.

When I used to go to the arcade, I'd play DDR Extreme, and I can play any song on "Heavy" setting ("Hard" setting), and make the speed x2, I have a dancepad + DDR max 1 and 2 for ps2, and It has indeed got me chicks before.. Maybe I should start back up?

EDIT: I just tried it back up again on my PS2, I can play "Standard" ("Normal" setting) on speed x2, I'm still good :)
