my first model in progress - Ive upload the pictures here, please excuse the low quality of the renders, not only is this my first time doing it but apparantly the XSI mod tool doesnt allow for large render areas.

if you lowered the imensely bright lighting you have there maybe we could see something to crit lol.
i cant really see the details very well and the fact that ur bg is white doesnt help .. render it on a grey bg.

argh, i cant seem to get the lighting right for this, its always too bright or too dark. I'll figure it out.

new renders

updated with new renders, i got it better lit this time. Still need to finish the hammer and the clip but I really like how it came out. Im really digging the modified grip. Let me know how it looks to you.

ah also as my partner pointed out the handgrip is modelled from a modified usp

its a shame you put so many polys into the curves in the handle when it will not be seen.
otherwise its an amazing model. now unwrap and skin it !

thanks guys - this is going to be my first skinning job. Im looking for a basic tutorial on skinning for xsi if any of you know of one offhand. If not im sure theres some pointers in the documentation that I'll stumble across.

what do you meen skinning for xsi its the same for whatever u model on. or do you meen uv mapping for xsi. well heres what u gota do make a blank tga either black of white and size it 1024 or 512 or wateva size u want. then on xsi go to get>texture then load the blank image and choose explisit uvs for the textre projection. then go to application>views>texture editor, at the top, and u can move the parts around. then do stamp uv mesh and save it as a uv and say yes when it askes to use the newly created texture. now when u edit the image u will see ur progress on the model.
