Half life 2 and counter strike sound problem

I got half life 2 and CS together, but it does not let me use all 4.1 of my speakers lol, it will only use the front 2 and not the back 2 or the bass. Plaese someone help me, i have tryed everything with my settings. Someone must have had the same problem?

Do you have 4.1 system selected in your control pannel?

yup, works fine with comp ect but just not with CS and HL2
