half-life 2 coupon question

I went to www.ati.com/online/hl2 and saw that you get 3 options what to do with the coupon. The 3rd option is "I wish to receive Half-Life® 2 when available in retail, I am not interested in receiving the Valve Premier Pack"

If I take that option will I still be able to download hl2 and play on steam when its ready? And will I still be able to play "valve premier pack" on steam?

It says that you have to activate your steam account before HL2 is available in stores. So I guess you can't download it if you take option 3.

you can preload it when you chose option 3. But you must activate the game with the serial you get with the hl2 box. so no, you can't play it untill you have the box of hl2...

Edit: whoops, forgot to say that when you chose option 3, you don't get the VPP via steam or cd. But when hl2 is available, you get an email, in wich you have to chose if you want to get hl2 via steam or if you want it to be sent to you on cd/dvd.

wow that really sucks, considering that you actully get the game 2-6 weeks after the release. Oh well, I guess I have to buy it.
