half life 2 expansions

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if there will be any hl 2 expantions.

It would be awsome if you could play a combine cop or father grigriori.

Yes, there is going to be. Its pretty much confirmed there's going to be an expansion focused around Alyx and Dog, although its not quite certain who you'll play as or what timeframe it takes place in.

Other than that, its open to speculation.

I doubt you'll play as dog, Alyx seems more likely. I still think they should make a combine expansion though...

I think Dog will just follow Alyx along every know and then. Dog is way to strong to play as, his pretty much invincible.

Most of it as Alyx, with one or two levels as Dog. It would be like playing a King Kong game. ****ing Cool.

Maybe like a Melee scene against a Garg as well with Dog doing his trademark leap in the air and kick ass move .

i don't think playing as dog or alyx would be very fun, however i would love to play as barney during the week gordon and alyx are in the portal, and i think it would be awesome to play as adrian shephard during the 7 hours war

yeah kinda like an all out battle against the combine would be cool, **** the whole gearbox thing.

I don't think the 7-hours war will be fun, because unless it takes place in an alternate universe you know that in the end you'll lose. Rather, I think it should take place after HL2, in the worldwide mass uprising that most likely followed the fall of the Citadel.

An uprising would be sweet, but I would really like to have more of an insight into the 7 hours war. That would be awesome, fighting Synths and stuff.

Lose? Not really, you know in the end the combine will win, but i don't think it happened overnight with humans doing as they are told . Yes Breen surrendered earth, yes earths forces stopped fighting, but that's not to say everyone put down thier weapons and waved the white flag.

I would much prefer the expansion characters to be new, actually.

Hmm, I don't really think any expansions for HL2 are a good idea....controlling any of the characters you know, like Alyx, seems a bit silly since they already have definite personality separate from that of the player. And like defpotec says, adding new characters just complicates everything....I'm happy to wait until HL3 until I get some answers, as long as they're cool answers. Concentrate on HL3 already, Valve!!!!

Hardly, a new character doesn't need to be dipped in a vat of mystery and intriuge. He just needs to be someone who fits into valve's "You are the character" take on things.

With that in hand, you could easily go on to churn out some answers.

i'll stick to my hopes that i'll get to play as barney in a "blue shift 2" during the week gordon was in the portal, and shephard during the 7 hours war in an "opposing force 2". titles can be changed of course
