Half-Life 2 In game problems

I've been having very wierd problems in-game and im getting very frustrated with it...

I cant really explain what they are, but they are in the way >.<

In the pictures i am in Nova Prospekt. This also happens in the beginning when you are running on the roof tops to escape the combines...

Any idea whats going on?

Looks like artifacts to me. Maybe your video card is overheating.

My card is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5500.

If it is what can i do to unheat it

Make sure the fan on the video card is spinning.

Yeah the fan is spinning and the card doesnt seem to be hot.. :/

What else do you recommend?

Any drivers or anything i could install? Or should i just:
A. Stop playing
B. Get a better gfx card

Stop playing and get a better card FX 5500 had its time and getting old. That pic you just showed looks like it came from an old overheated, OC-ed Overheated and or an old card.

I have an Intel Extreme Graphics card (16 MB VRAM), the same one I played the original HL on. It still runs fine, just gives a low framerate. I'd say it is a driver problem.

Well yeah...cause it only happens when i look in certain places... (Sometimes its hard to find a place with the screen not completly invaded)...

But most of the game it doesnt happen... I dont think the card is over-heating though cause it feels fine, and i have a pretty good fan on it, so i know its getting good a good air flow.

Well how would i fix it with drivers? I think i have the latest drivers... Where can i get some new ones?

I've got a FX 5600, and I run my HL2 with no problems with every graphics setting at high, except models which is a medium, and resolution at 1024x768 (or 720, can't remember). I don't see why you should get a new graphics card.
