hi, i am new to the Halflife2.net forums and have a problem with the Half Life 2 game.
when i started to play, i got to the part when my butt gets kicked and a girl beats the guards up and i lie on the ground. when she opens an elevator and i get in it, she just stands there like she has seen a ghost and will not get in the elevator but i fixed that and went on with the game. but, when i got to Black Mesa East, the same problem happened to a woman.
HELP!!;(:(

You mean Dr. Mossman?

I got a quick fix for you, for any coding bugs like that, go to your steam games list, right click Half-Life 2, click on Properties, click on the "Local Files" tab, then click "Verify integrity of Game cache.

Beyond that, I can't really help without system specs.

yes
and my specs are
Computer type: Dell Latitude c640 Laptop
processor: intel pentium 4
Hard Drive Space and free space:
total space 55.8 GB free space 30.3 GB
Internet card: Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster 2.4 GHz 802.22g card
Drives: CD-RW burner drive
Computer OS: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

So you run Half Life 2 with Steam, or you run it without? Saying no then changing it to yes confuses me.

To start, follow this guide to verify your game files.

running the game without steam because i can't add the game to steam, also i get a file system error

Here's your solution.

Half Life 2 needs Steam to work - if you want it to work when you play, and you want people to give you advice on how to get it working if it breaks, you'll need Steam, and you'll need to pay for the game.

I have the game
one quick question
what is the games default install folder in Program Files?

I don't know, is this going to help you continue being a pirate? [pirate noises]

You're saying you have the game in physical format, on a disc that you bought from a store?

Okay, if you have a legitimate copy I'd suggest re-installing it, so that it properly installs Steam. You need Steam to play Half Life 2.

I'm not sure, it could have been. If you install Half Life 2 from a legitimate game disc, it should prompt you to install steam, make or login to an account, and link your copy of Half Life 2 to that account. Presumably you bought the game from a store and not a car boot sale?

i installed steam and it did everything in your post except link my copy of half life 2 to steam

You should now click "Activate Product on Steam" at the bottom of the steam interface, and then type in your CD key, and it should work.

Wasnt this glitch associated with pirate versions of the game? (thus most the posts in this thread. lol)

running the game without steam because i can't add the game to steam, also i get a file system error
Explain this. If you don't clearly in your next post I'm ending this thread and your account with halflife2.net.

Can't add? I afraid you sir are trying to add a pirated game to Steam.

nevermind, my friend let me borrow his half life 2 game box, and I deleted at game and used my friend's box set instead
