found this news topic on ircspy.com - i personally haven't seen this confirmed yet.

Valve Software's Half-Life 2 has been submitted to the BBFC for certification, we've learnt this afternoon, news which adds credence to recent rumours that Vivendi is shortly to announce that the hotly anticipated first-person shooter sequel has finally 'gone gold'.
Speaking under strict conditions of anonymity, an industry insider squealed earlier informing us that "as far as Vivendi is concerned, the game [Half-Life 2] is finished" before saying that the title had been passed to PEGI (Pan European Games Information age rating system) for classification, which in turn passed the sequel to the BBFC for certification.
The industry insider added that a November release is now looking "extremely likely".
A BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) spokesperson has confirmed with us within the last few minutes that the government body is indeed in possession of Half-Life 2. However, they could only add at this stage that the first-person shooter is "under evaluation", as far as certification is concerned.

And what, you're no doubt wondering, does Vivendi have to say about all this? Well, actually so are we at the moment. We'd like to report, but at the time of going to press the publisher remained unavailable for comment. Blast their eyes.

show me a link to another thread that shows info about the submission to the bbfc...

Interesting. I didn't know Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines had been rated so early. Typically, does anyone actually know how long it usually takes the BBFC to rate a videogame?

Actually, the news page doesn't say anything other than there is a rumor going around.

Am I the only one that finds this interesting?

I'm on your side GSW, gj with the find...! :)

Rumour about gold status yes but it does clearly say about the BBFC. I wouldn't really care but you can't try to claim it's not there AND in threads. It happens but ffs suck it up and admit it.

I don't know why I bloody bother sometimes

The words uttered by an "industry insider", as posted by the team over at Computer and Video Games. There has been no official gold announcment as yet, but it appears that Half-Life 2 has been sent to PEGI and BBFC for certification.
So what does this mean exactly? Well, possibly not a great deal. The ESRB recently posted their rating for Half-Life 2. Yesterday Icarus chased up the Assistant Director over at the ESRB who informed us that HL2 was reviewed by them 31 days ago, with the official rating being posted up within the last week or so. The full game wasn't rated and it's entirely possible that the same thing is being done with PEGI and the BBFC. As for the comment quoted in the title of this news post - who knows? There has been a lot of information going around the internet recently and it's very difficult to know what's true and what isn't but once we get some information officially confirmed, you'll see it here.

You can catch the full news post here.

Thanks to Digiq8 for being the first to bring the news to my attention.
