Hi all,

I'm about to play Half Life 1 for the first time and I was wondering if Half Life Source supports Half Life mods, or if mods only work on Normal Half Life.

Thanks.

Mods for HL1 will only work for HL1.

HL:Source won't work with HL1 mods.

Personally I wouldn't play Half-Life: Source. It kind've spoils the fun of playing it. You don't get the bad explosions, and stuff.

You only get the expansions for free if you use an old cd-key with Steam. Anyway, in theory it's possible to port any HL mod to HL:S, it's just that nobody's doing it. It would look inconsistent, anyway.

I sure as hell am going to ditch HLSource once BMSource is released.

It will give modders some good hl1 models to put into hl2 mods which would be an attractive look

And when does that happen? Will it happen? Probably after Valve (or someone) released HL3 with an ultra-improved graphic engine, so they can start over and make a HL Ultrasource mod or something like that, which will take another decade, and when they're done with that, Valve invented the ultramegasuper graphic engine long ago, a.k.a. Matrix, and already connected us to their computers to save bills. Then it would have become pointless to play apocalypse themed games because we already live in an apocalyptic world and so on.....

PS: Have some more ands and commas
and,and,and,and,and,

No, it isn't, because the source code of HL:S wasn't ever released.
But even though it wouldn't make any sense. HL:S looks worse than the original.
Also there aren't many people who owned it. And the most who have owned it, don't like it. ^^

It would be possible to port them to HL2. But the effort wouldn't be worthwhile in the most cases.

He said in theory. Anyone can mod to HL:S, if they had a SDK. And HL:S looked better than the original, it's a fact. People only disliked it because they expected it to be up to the same standards as HL2. That's what BM:S is all about.

Means, nobody can and will ever be able to, because there will never be a sdk for it.

And HL:S looked better than the original, it's a fact.

I don't agree! The textures look crappy and the water + other effects of the source engine aren't adequate with the low-res content.
But that's only my opinion.
I personnaly see no reason to buy it. I would buy and prefer the old HL1, because of the many HL1 mods and the old-school factor.
And for an experience with HL1 on source, the Black Mesa mod.

HL:S was a waste product for demonstartion purposes only.
