Hammer not working

i left last weekend to go to my girlfriends house and returned and my hammer is different. i can no longer make doors. for example when i create a func_door_rotating the ball pivot point no longer appears on the door and i cant change the axis. it also wont texture anything corectly. i have tried reinstalling and it didnt fix the problem. any advise?

Ensure that ignore-groups is not enabled by unpressing the small "ig" button on the top toolbar, and ensure that helpers are enabled by pressing the small sphere button on the right side of the top toolbar.

Texturing works best when no objects are selected and the Texture Application Tool's mode is set to Lift+Select.
