Somebody I know just mentioned that the vortigant in nova prospekt, the one in the chair with the electric shit going into his head, had the same kind of mind-controlling cuffs on that they had in HL1.

Can somebody get a screenshot of this?

This would certainly back up the idea that the Combine were controlling the aliens/nihilanth in Xen.

The one in the train station at the start also sports the hand and neck cuffs, doesn't he?

This has always been my theory.

EDIT: i cannot provide a screenshot but i can confirm it's true.

Also apparently the platform that Nihilanth is on looks just like Combine technology, a screen shot of this would be good too. I'll go and try and get some myself!

Yea, its true. I mentioned this in another post. And somebody put a screen shot of up from HL1. Do a search.

I noticed it as well. the same green cuffs and neckbrace as in the first game.

Well, that would explain why the Vortigaunts hate the combine so much.

Also the last teleport island you go to before reaching Nihilanth in HL1 looks combinish to me

Anybody else notice that when you first enter the train station at the very beginning of the game that if you look to your right there is a vortigaunt sweeping and he has the same handcuff things, also there is a civil protection guy watching him sweep.

Dont forget he also has some sort of chastity belt.
Something to do with controlling fertility , like the humans and the suppression field?

ewww bad image of vortigaunts mating. LOL at the Vortigaunt Chastity Belt, though.

that does sound like a valid theory, but the one thing that doesn't add up for me is that the combine hadn't mastered local teleportation, yet on xen there were tons of those mini teleporters. it just don't make no sense

Perhaps that's why the Combine conquered Xen, to get that technology. Only, Freeman freed them before they could coax them into giving up the secrets. And it seems like the vortigants were helping Eli, so that would explain why we could do it before the uber-advanced Combine can.

And what's it matter. The G-Man has control over space AND time. He wins. No contest.

He's such a pimp.

When you were taken around the Citadel in that man harness thing near the end, I thought it held surprising resemblance to Xen.

Hmm, have to load up HL1 and check out that Nihilanth thing. Also, was it just me, or was he wearing a collar too?
