Happy It's Not Released!

No one here knows what exactly Valve is doing with the game right now, and no one really knows exactly why they've delayed the game. All we know is that for some reason they came up short in the time span they gave. The reasons vary and no one here can speculate that they are making the game better.

I would actually tend to agree with you on this one, OFFMason. See, I'm not so hard to get along with. :)

They could lenghten the game by making us run around the same level for a while, you know back and forth, on and on... And I wouldn't mind that as long as there's a good storyline behind it.
*cough*Halo*cough*

Gameplay like that is generaly a bit lame and essentially highlights shoddy game/level design and a lack of ideas. Not to mention padding out the game to make it seem longer. If you return to the same area but it's changed since you were last there then that's okay but still.

umm, i'm glad they delayed it if it needed to be delayed.
however, i'm pissed it needed to be delayed in the first place.
my original pissedness takes precedence, so i'm pissed.
the trick is asking the right question (or answering the wrong one).

It seems rather obvious, to me anyway, that Valve delayed HL-2 because of STEAM.

That's just speculation however but it kinda makes sense.

I personally think Valve was just no where near done with the game and that's why they delayed it. Could be wrong tho.

Valve has good reasons to delay the game, I mean, the biggest selling point of any gaming software is the Christmas season, so they must have balanced releasing the current product as is, and maybe patching bugs later, or actually completing the game fully, improving it over the delayed period. Im glad they are taking the extra time to make sure they are releasing a product that will satisfy the eager community.

Remember, Valve's reputation and possible future is on the line with this product. People's expectations are as high as can be, and Valve wants to make sure the gaming community is content with the product they release.

Maybe they've just put the stops on everything else to get Steam fixed. Didn't anybody notice that last week, from Tuesday to Friday, nothing but updates?

There are certain things in HL2 that certainly need to be fixed.
MP5pdw's in allies hands turn MP7's in Gordon's hands-probably they decided to switch the MP5's for the MP7's in the middle of the production and the 1st thing they did was changing the 3d model that appears to in your hands before the one that appears in allies or foes in-game.
and also too few car models

Well, I've always thought that Valve were going to release Half-Life 2 as soon as it was done. (As in, releasing it a few days after the 30th, near the end of September it was obvious they wouldn't make the 30th release date). Then it was near the 30th and they realised that they had quite a bit to do, so decided to announce a delay. They probably took advantage of the delay by making it longer than they actually needed so they could to improve the game, not just finish it so instead of a delay of two weeks or something they said that they'll be a delay till the holidays.

Then the leak happened. Wouldn't they have to change a lot of things because the Source code would make it easier to find ways to cheat?

Have you heard about the *SOURCE-THEFT* ....(*NEWSFLASH*)...

If they would release the game right now..there would be cheats all over the place...jeez study this before you comment...

And why would they say they can release a game in 2 months, when they haven't even finished the game?

omg..

I agree that it's great that there is this delay. It gives me time to make a new system capable of running the game at it's best. Roll on April!
