Having Problems loading

I installed the game HL2 but when I click on the exe. it says it could not run library steam.ddl...or something along those lines. Help!!!!!!!!

You must run Steam in order to play the game. No Steam, no fun

You either are not running HL2 through Steam or Steam is corrupted.
