Hey.

I recently upgraded my comp with a prescott P4 3.0 HT and a Asus P4P800 SE mobo. its really great (runs CSS damn good) but i feel its not working at its maximum.

i mean... my processor is at 52 C (125 F) right now and all thats open is bt client and internet explorer... It actually goes up to 60-65 C sometimes when i play games.

Ive got the fan that came with all that mounted + one case fan.
I have been told that iv i bought a new heat sink it would help a lot...

anyone got a pretty cheap idea that could help me?

thanks a lot.

Yeh, new heat sink + fan. Can't think of which off the top of my head, but it's a known thing that Prescotts chew power like there's no tomorrow! And as a result, they pump out heat!

Here's the first useful-looking thing I found re: heatsinks etc:

If it's a real problem, underclock/undervolt it a bit to lower the amount of heat at the expense of a bit of cpu-gojuice.
Just try and lower the voltage a bit and see if it's still stable...
(my 3.0GHz Northwood runs at 1.5GHz without a fan at a cozy 0.82v!)
