I have just bought a second hand copy of Half Life2 but can't register it as it has already been registered by a previous owner. I'm getting no help from Steam. Any ideas??I just wanna play offline.
:frown:

return it to the shop, or buy one from steam, its secured with 1024 bit encryption, in case you don't have a credit card, ask your Mamy or Daddy for their's.

k, bye

oh yeah

Thanks for your singularly unhelpful smartass comment. Any one else that can help??:farmer:

Erm.. Do what he said.. One CDkey can only be used once, and the CDkey you got had already been used.

Don't buy second hand valve games, fool

EDIT: Buy from steam and you wont have this problem

Riiiiiight... Don't push away people just because you personally experience some issues. Ok? Thanks.

Pzazz: Like Gorgon said, your copy is gimped since the only important piece is the cd-key...

Valve said : don't buy the game from ebay or second hand.

When you get the game, you put the cd-key into your account to activate it. Once done that cd-key is binded to that account. The person you bought it off still has the game connected to their account. You need their email and password in order to play their game you bought. If they don't give you that, they can pay $10 to unbind the cd-key from their account so you can use it. (fat chance of them doing that!).

So you got screwed over i'm afraid, you should have done your research first. Buy new retail or from steam, or borrow accounts from people you know and trust.
