Help backup and restoring

Hi i need to format my pc as its starting to lag alot.
Basically due to all the updates needed for half life an deathmatch etc, i really dont want to wait all that time to do it.
basically I know who to back up my steam data to another hard drive, the problem i have is how do I restore the data once my pc has been formatted

any help will be greatly apprciated

p.s. i am using the backup tool within steam

Install Steam and you should be able to use the Steam data (double-click on it)

ok tehn so when i format my computer, re-install steam, then look for the data of my other hard drive yeah? thanks
