Help: Deathmatch Lag

After the latest update, I have been playing hl2 dm with a lot of lag. Before I connect, the latency of a server, for example, is 40. But when I connect my latency ranges from 150-400, lagging big time.

I have done the following but does NOT work:

1. Deleted all files and reinstall.
2. Updated all my drivers.
3. Checked all my firewall setting and turning them off.

I had no problems prior to the latest update. I even played on my own server with same problems.

The lag occurs only on HL2 Deathmatch.

I have no problems with Day of Defeat or with Deathmatch Classic.

i get really weird lag as well, but it doesn't affect my ping/choke/loss.. i just warp all over the place..can barely walk straight

I have the same problem lately when I first join a server. I lag so badly for the first 10 seconds after joining a server I usually just get killed. After that though, my latency goes down to around 30-40 and it never happens again until the map changes.

Any details on processor speed, connection settings etc. guys?

The weird warping effect is a bug in the physics system. From what I can work out myself, if you get stuck on physics objects, the physics system tries to force you out of it. While doing so it calibrates your movements quite oddly to cause a warping effect. Sometimes it even launches you right up high so you fall down and hurt youtself.
