Help I'm stuck in the kitchen!!!

Hi;

I am playing HL2 for the first time and have run into a roadblock. In "Follow
Freeman" I have wiped out the snipers, gotten myself and my team into the building and destryed 2 out of 3 generators.

However I am stuck in an area that looks like a kitchen. The light sensors get tripped no matter what I do and i get blasted before I can do anything.

I tried brining in a table to jump over the sensors to the left of the door and that didn't work.

I even tried "God" mode to try to find the switch that turns off the turrets but when I reach the buttons in the control area they don't respond to "E"
which is the "use" button.

Can anyone who's been there help me out?

Sorry; This is the building with the "Suppressor" on top. The generator I am trying to get to is right above you on the second level as you enter the main area. I have already tried a walkthrough with no success but I understand that after I get through this Barney is supposed to open a door for me so I can get to the roof.

Thanks for the link to the walkthrough. I tried the one on IGN and couldn't make sense of it I hope this works better.
