Help in extracting the HL2 models

I need help in extracting Half-Life 2's models into any 3d program (eg. 3d studio max, maya, softimage, lightwave, etc.), because most of the programs that are used to decompile HL2 models into the SMD format requires the SDK to work. (It is similar to what Dan and Gary worked how to extract HL2 models into 3ds max)
 
dude use the search feature. anyway. due to an problem since the steam update u need gcfscape and mdldecompiler. mdldecompiler needs to be put in sourcesdk/bin. now you need to find the modeles in gcfscape in sourcemodels. make sure steam is closed. now drag the files out to your desktop or whereever. open mdldecompiler but make sure you de-select use steam access. the last check box i think. now locate the models on your desktop and and choose the output directory and away you go!
 
But those require the HL2 Source SDK. I need those tools that does not need the HL2 SDK to extract all of Half-Life 2's models into any 3d program.
 
Do you have any HL2 model extracting program that does not require the Half-Life 2 SDK to work? One of Milkshape 3D's plugins is likely, but it crashed upon decompiling the HL2 model.
 
why do you want one that does not require the sdk to work.
 
Because the Half-Life 2 Source SDK requires Steam to work, and in addition, my Half-Life 2 MDL decompiler requires tier0.dll, and vstdlib.dll in order to work. So that's why I need one that does not require the SDK to work.
 
no thats why i said extract the mdls with gcfscape first and then use mdl decompiler and deselect use steam access and decompile the ones u extracted.
 
OK, I have all the HL2 models and I have the HL2 mdl decompiler at the ready, with the files tier0.dll and the vstdlib.dll. But when I tried to run the HL2 mdl decomplier, the Q_AppendSlash procedure entry point is not found in the vstdlib.dll file! HELP provide me a possible solution to solve this problem, if you can.
 
But could someone help me, because I need to extract the HL2 models via Milkshape 3d or any other HL2 model decompiling program?
 
milkshape isnt a decompiling problem. and i dont know what your talking about the dll files u need ti put the mdl decompiler in the sourcesdk/bin folder

I had the same problem but I figured it out. If you have a ep1 folder in your
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\username\sourcesdk\bin directory go into it:
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\susername\sourcesdk\bin\ep1 and put the mdldecompiler in there
