help! it wont let me star halflife 2 up!

okay i go into the steam menu, play games, then half life 2
then it pops up in a window, goes to the guy with the valve in his eye, then the trademark stuff after, but then it cvomes up to the loading screen and in about 2 seconds it stops and a warning says video setting failed, setting up default proceed? i hit okay and the same thing happens cept it goes to full screen. i hit it again it goes to small screen ect ect:angry: please help me i dont kno what to do with the video settings:angry:

no i have a nvidia geforce fx2....... qwhen i run counter strike source it runs fine...

you dont have 2 b 18 to play... like if ur 14 an du play a 18 plus game its not illegal..... my dads fine with it. he plays it himself. we jsut cant figure out how to get it started. we have it on my other computer but its too slow. and this computer right here is fast. i jsut need some help. im not trying to blow up the world. cant ya just giv e a half life 2 fan a little help in order to play the game?

listen, i start school in 3 weeks. i wnana be able to play this as soon as possible. my dad doesn know what the problem is. it just restarts over and over right when it gets to the loading section. and everytime it restarts, it changes the box size froma window to full screen. it mentions theres a video setting error but i have an upto date graphic card....i have no idea whats wrong... can ya jsut help me instea dof making fun of me?
