Help needed

Im on chapter 4 and outside. Theres 2 antlions holes in the ground which I've placed cars over. But theres giant one and no matter how much I shoot at it it wont die. How do I kill it?

You never played Half Life 2 did you?

That is an Antlion Guard and will take a lot of hits before it goes down. There is no trick to killing it like enemies in other games. Just pure bullet pumping.

This is how I did it. As soon as I entered the area, I ran and put cars on the holes. During that time the big one was killing the combine and was not attacking me. Then I ran around and threw every single explosive barrel at him that was in the vacinity. And then I started using my standard machine gun on him (there's a infinate crate underneath Alyx) always keeping him close enough so that Alyx can shoot him too.

If you still can't do it, put the difficulty down.

of course Ive played Half Life 2 but it takes lot of ammunition so thought maybe there another way of killing it.

Throw all the explosive barrels at him, then fire everything you got at him.
