Help pls Our Benefactors Bug?

Ok, I got this far thru the game, and now I'm stuck, I'm sure it must be a bug?

I got to the point where my weapons are taken from me, I killed all I need to kill, and everywhere I can go is cut off by a force field.

Theres one place, where theres a platform/bridge underneath me that leads to a big genarator thing with a beam going up it, but I cant jump down, infact I cant jump anywhere on this level.

Surely that cant be right? Anyone have any ideas?

You can't jump? Strange...Perhaps you should start the level over. You're still in a very early part.

But just in case, are you sure you've looked all possible openings? Also, in some parts of the level there are generators similar to those in the Nexus-building. You have to take them out before you can move on.

Theres absolutely nowhere else I can go spent an hour and a half looking.

I tried starting level again from last save point, it just brought me to the part where my weapons get taken away, and I still couldnt jump. I guess I'll have to re-do the lvl beforehand, but knowing my luck I'll do that and the bug will still be there.

That happend to me too. I simply reinstalled the game. That eliminated the jump bug for me... But i still had problams such as enemy AI and when i used the blue gravity gun to send enemys into the power beems, it crashed.

I could however, send the ragdolls, when i killed them, waited, and then blasted them into it and watch them veiperaise. Same thing when i shot them with those powerballs.

Is there any way of reinstalling without losing all my save games? :/

Dont think so... Unless maybe you went this way
\valve\steam\SteamApps\username\half-life 2\hl2\ and copyed the save folder into something else.

Just make a copy of the save folder(s) and put them elsewhere, then when you reinstall just copy them back. Should work.

I'll give that a shot then and hope for the best :/ gah if I lose all Ive done I wont be a happy bunny lol.

The jump bug, apparently, is caused by pressing the jump key when you're in the linear track section while you're locked in place: happened to me and quite a few others too!

Rather than reinstalling, first try loading up a later save or autosave and restart from there, but without pressing the jump key. Then when you're dumped out of the unit, you should be able to move normally.

From the main menu, go to 'New Game' and restart the chapter from the beginning.

Well dah... load back is the first thing you try.

I tried starting it from an earlier point, but not as early as before the ride thing, I'll do that before uninstalling or anything.

Im almost positive I didnt press jump while in the linear track section though.

Yeah, so was I: so I think it might occur regardless of what you do, sometimes. Second time through it worked fine for me though, so maybe part of the trick is persistence.
