HELP when i start up my half life 2, it says theres a video error

when i go to start up half life 2, it goes to the valve screen with the guy and the valve in his eye. then it goes to the trademarking and copyright screen. then it goes to the loading screen but 2 seconds into, it closes the box and an error appears saying "video setting error: resetting to default settings". then it goes to full screen but the same thing happens. the error pops up 2 seconds into loading. it happens over and over and over again. can some one tell me what to do to fix the problem?----i have a nvidia geforce fx 5200. im pretty sure thats up to date if im not wrong. can any one help me please? i wnana play half life 2!!!!!:flame:

That will work for HL2, but it will do horrible and isn't really...that good and when it was made it wasn't exactly "up to date".

Maybe update your drivers?

You didnt even bother installing the drivers I sent you, did you?

yes i did, lol, in fact i just did today. but when i went to start it up it lasted loading like 10 seconds then the error popped up again. i swear to god i tried... wait did i have to download the 3 mirriors also?

arg when i initialize it it says i need 1.1net. ive downloaded it and yet it says that for the set up.... uh i hate nvidia

nvmnvm i figured out u had to ru na setup of the net 1.1

No need to download program...i did it myself without needing that program.
Just delete some HL2.exe Binary in Regedit in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video.

My old gfx card was a GeForce MX 420 and it worked on medium for HL2. I think his would work pretty good.
