i am a complete newbie at garrys mod so i was wondering if there was any one who could give me some pointers on how the basics of buildings work ?

Ok i'll give you a tip or two:
You choose stuff out of your context menu
Rotate object with the Physics gun by holding you use button on and rorating with your mouse.
