HEV Suit

Hi gamers, i'm stuck at the point on the first level where Gordon is asked to put on his orange suit for the first time, in dr kleiner's lab. How come i can't get him to do that? I've tried to get him as near as possible to the suit and i've pressed the action button (default:e) from all angles but nothing happens. Please help me, so that i can continue playing the game.

Ok then, I'm gonna take this as a serious post and not an attempt at sarcasm...

When Barney opens the enclosure that the HEV suit is in, you just walk right ontop of it. Gordon will take the suit and you'll see a little animation of him flexing his hands and some funky music. If this isnt' working, you may have a glitch.

You haven't used the impulse 101 code have you? It'll give you the HEV suit and will make the one in Kliener's lab uncollectable. If you haven't then's its got to be a glitch.

yes it looks like i'm confronted with a bug or sumthin. At first,Alex wouldn't come out and pick me to bring me to her dad's lab. I was stuck in front of the elevator. I had to restart a new game, and then at that place, she came out and sonned the 2 guards who were harassing me, and then brought me to dr kleiner's lab. But now, no matter what i try i can't get gordon to slip into the suit. Goddamnit!
Has anyone else experience similar problems? What can i try to fix them? Thanks.

Actually, I think the post counter should be removed it DOES lead to an elitist attitude when someone new arrives.

Word. Cheats are for the second time around, when you've already beaten the game without them, and you went to play around, and use the fun weapons earlier, like say, the blue grav gun. Besides, what fun is it to play with cheats? Unless, as I said, you want the better grav gun early. But then again, you need to experience both, so you can appreciate the better weapon.

One other thing, why are you cheating now?!?!? There hasn't been any fighting yet. You are just wandering around. Why the hell you need cheats to wander? Unless, you've beaten the game, and want to 'noclip' and explore. Simply, you don't need cheats this early. If you use them at all, wait till "Nova Prospekt" or "Follow Freeman." There, they may actually come in handy.

Mostly, it just feels good to beat the game cheat free.

Here's the moral of the story:
You're a douchebag if you use cheats the first time around. Even more so, you're a douchebag for cheating when no human being should need a cheat. If you can't pass that part without cheating, you should be beaten with a crowbar and fed to headcrabs.

Chill people, that's my way of playing FPS. I've beaten Doom 3 the first time using the cheats (difficulty: hard), the second time without cheats (difficulty:normal) and the third time i've played it without cheats on the level nightmare. It's just frustrating for me to play a new game and to get killed 10 times on the first levels. I want to experience most of the game quick, an then i challenge myself to play without cheats and at high difficulty levels.

Whenever I get stuck in a game and can't see a way passed cheeting is my last resort. I played Max Payne and got stuck in one place. I used the cheats and about 5 minutes after I stopped playing the game....forever. I felt like I'd ruined the game by doing it.

I know this has been said but… I want to reiterate…
Wouldn’t it be more fun to experience the game the way it was intended? If it’s too hard just turn down the difficulty level. The level is there so that, theoretically, people of all skills can enjoy the game. Its not there for you to prove you’re the ultimate gamer by beating hard with the crowbar. That’s simply an alternative use that holds no appeal to a lot of people. If you’re having difficulty with easy then you’re just going to need to spend time honing your skill set for first person shooters. Everything that is worth enjoying needs a little bit of work put into it. Whether you’re broadening your musical taste or working on hand eye coordination for a video game, without the challenge you don’t get the pay off! Thats why spoiled people are miserable inside. On a related note... Did everybody see the South Park with Paris Hilton? lol… oh man! That’s funny stuff.

The first time beating it on hard I didn't think the game was overly hard, but you bought the game it is your choice to cheat or not.

It's stupid to play through a game WITHOUT cheats only after playing it WITH cheats. You may think that you're meeting the same challenge, but you already know where enemies come it, how many there are, etc. You'll never get any better at FPS if you never try them. Generally playing with cheats makes you lazy, and you never realize that you have to learn to take cover and that you can't just run out into the middle of the enemy.

FPS are supposed to be challenging, and you are expected to die while you get used to the controls. First time I played Dark Forces I couldn't aim well, and got owned by the first 2 stormtroopers I met on the first level.

The thrill of a FPS game is not knowing what happens next and always being paranoid. It definitely gets your adreniline going when you see a bunch of enemies and try diving back behind cover before they see you. You think you made it, when one of them says "Hey, over there" and they all start running towards you, while you panic while inventorying your lack of ammo.

If you don't like situations like that, you shouldn't be playing FPS (or even RTS) games. Stick with flight sims and puzzle games.

At least try it HL2 WITHOUT cheats, then use cheats if you NEED them(as a last resort). These forums are full of "how do I kill xxx" if you ever have trouble.

This is true. But you have to admit that the more posts a person has, and therefor the more experience on the forum, the more a person is likely to think and consider what he is writing, and therefor actually make more valuable posts. I think the original post in this thread is a good example.
