Hi im kinda new to Halflife and Steam and ive only ever play the first on on the PS2. I can't get my game to work! When i put in in it comes up ok and then it asks me to enter my key and when i do it says that its incorrect! Ive tried this several times exchanging I for 1 ect and it still won't work can someone please help? thanks

The cd-key you should be entering is random letters and numbers, in this kind of format:

XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Maybe you entered it too fast, try going slow....

Also, never give out your CD keys to anybody (yes, even your family)

i spent ages trying to do this...coz i overlooked a very simple thing. if u have the hl2 retail version with a character on the front and css and hl2dm, on the back of case 1, there is the cd-key. you enter in the 5 sets of random numbers and letters, not the stuff further down.

thats what i have been doing. i bought the dvd version and the cd key is on a sticker stuck inside the box. this is a nightmare

yea its a little sticker that says
half life 2
xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

Are you putting the hyphens between the sets of numbers/letters? Don't know if it actually matters. Just a thought.
