HL 2 on laptop...

Hi im having trouble with opening half life 2 on my laptop... Like when it skips to preaparing to load half life 2 it then gives me a blue screen saying something about a dll. file being the problem.. so i thought it was my nvidia driver so i downloaded the latest nvidia driver... and tried that with some sucess. It opened half life and went as far as the first part of the game where i have to jump out of the window.. then when it auto saved it froze so i restarted and tried to reopen the game. But then just came up with the same old problem. I tried nvidia drivers version 82.10, 82.56 and the latest one i could find but all with no luck ><
Here are my system specs :
Sony VGN-S58TP
2 ghz centrino
1 gb memory
geforce go 6400 256mb (turbo cache)

So i theory it should run but it doesnt T_T plz help... anxious gamer wanting a piece of HL 2 action ><

Is Half-Life 2 completely up to date?
Left-click on the Steam tray icon
Select "Games"
Click on the "My Games" tab
Right-Click on "Half-Life 2"
Select "Properties"
Click on the "Updates" tab
Is it set to automatically update the game?

Yes its fully updated. I even did a clean install of HL2 and tried again but still no luck ><
