i always found the hl gore to be hilarious, it was even more hilarious when a zombie got cut in half in hl2, whatever happened tho to skulls bouncing around and the funny gib sound lol
 
Gibbing has been removed, never was included in the first place I believe.
 
lol i loved it when 3 of the same body parts would pop out of one person. im kinding glad they got rid of the gibbing though, could ruin the look of the game if they **** up the gibbing
 
HL1DM has got to be one of the bloodiest goriest games ever. If you turned up the decal limit, the walls would get totally covered in blood in some areas.. not to mention all the organs lying around.

HL2 definitly comes up short on the gore realism factor.

EDIT: I have to disagree with the statement "HL1DM was the bloodiest game." You have obviously never played Unreal Tournament in a confined space with a flak gun. Trust me, thats gory.

that sounds like fun... think ill try that out now :D
and while it isnt realistic, i still love it! like how the tentacle would gib you EVERY time :laugh:
 
Soldier of fortune 2 lets you shoot off legs and arms. They should include that in HL2 too, with the physics and shit... it would rule.

did you check out the gibbing in HL:S ? it's both hilarious AND pretty well done

gibbing would **** up the ragdoll.
you would have to create a different model for every part and connect them .. still it would be buggy.

see .. antlions dont have ragdoll ... they gib well.

Oh but there is an homage to the gibbing in HL2, there is a skull underneath the first barnacle you see that is the exact same shape and look as those that gibbed in HL.

That'd be amazing. You could chop off a zombie's leg with a buzzsaw blade, then pick up the leg with the manipulator and hurl it at the zombie when it starts clawing its way towards you.

damn we need this full sdk so we can stop talkin about mods and start playin some. :D
 
Couldn't agree more that we need the SDK!

Half Life has the kind of community that carries out the kind of mods most fans can't be bothered with :D

Heheh, the resistance can use crowbars and pick up pipes (albeit once, versus the manhacks in a scripted piece), so I don't think an AI routine involving dismemberment and sick weapon improvisation would be too hard to do!
 
Definitely more gibs are needed.
There's nothing like a satisfying kill which results in the dismemberment of your foe.

Though ragdolls are pretty cool, it doesn't have the same feel as watching your opponent's skull ricochet off a wall.
 
theres some french mod for hl1 that includes the ability to shoot off heads/legs/arms....I think its called Invasion or something
 
HL1 was based on the Quake II engine, so the gibs were a lot like the ones you see in such games as Unreal and Quake--not very realistic.
 
I think its stupid that when you cut the zombies in half they get cut in the same exact place everytime. It would be awesome if you could cut specific body parts.
