HL:Source available at the same time with HL2?

No one knows but valve did say there is going to be a surprise when Half Life 2 is released...

Valve also said there was going to be a suprise with CSS. I'm still waiting for that surpise.

we knew it was coming...whether thats tomorrow or 10 days from tomorrow, it doesn't really matter all that much.. since most pple will be busy playing through HL2.
i hope the surprise is something that actually lives up to the word

They'll probably release a couple of new CS:Source maps, i.e. Militia and Prodigy, VALVe or Cliffe said something along the lines of being ready for december, but I think in the context he used it he meant the maps actually developed for CS:Source and not the old maps ported over.

I am writing in the hope of clearing up some of the confusion relating to what is going on with different versions of the Half-Life 2 release.
Unfortunately, we have learned that there is no solid date for the release of the Half-Life 2 Collector’s Edition, which is due to reasons far beyond our control.
There is hope that this Collector’s Edition will see the light of day before Christmas but at the moment we are unable to confirm anything.
In good news, we are currently despatching the standard version of Half-Life 2 – and if you manage to order it today (before 2pm) then there’s a very good chance you’ll receive it tomorrow morning – the morning of release.
