HL/Steam/CSS Help Needed

How do i get into ONLINE MODE?

I have just installed Half-Life 2 (and Steam) on my new computer and i get this message when i click on the steam icon: -

So i choose Existing Account and get this message:-

So i decided to click on the Half life and CSS icons which give me this again :-

So i tried Create a new account and that gives me this message :-

I seem to be getting nowhere. do i need to get into an 'Online Mode'? if so how do i do it. This is soooo Annoying

Just make sure you're connected to the internet and you set your networking settings accordingly! Otherwise I don't know what else.

Are you running a firewall? If so you probably need to let STeam.exe access the Internet. If you're using a router, that might have to be configured too.
BTW this should be in Community GAme Support.

its probly cause youre not connected to the internet thats the only reason why it doesnt work.
