How would I open up other GCF files from other games such as dark messiah?

what file format are they. I'm pretty sure its illegal to do anything more than look but if its a gcf file use gcfscape?

i dont think its illegal to extract or edit game media . you have paid for it after all. BUT you cant distribute it or sell it , which includes using it in one of your projects.
