I know this problem has been addressed but i wanted to know what progress has been made on the problem. It seems for me that when i have a "cold start" so to say with my game and i move around it will stutter really bad and wont stop....1 fram every 4 seconds.... i have an ATI x800 pro with CATALYST 6.4 installed on my pc. 6.5s aren't any better. please let me know if there are any settings on my console in HL2 that i can tweak that may help. thanks!

Try giving us more info about your spec. Also after installing EP1 do the disk defragmenter. Reboot once after installing E1, before you start to play. Some of those cards have 128MB memory and aren't enough for E1 because E1 is lot more resource demanding than HL2, try lowering the game settings including resolution setting.
