I just bought a new computer and it came with HL2: bronze pack. I downloaded it, and installed the updates, and now, whenever I try to run it, from Steam, it loads to the screen for valve, then goes to the screen where i see a blurry street, and says "Loading...", it freezes, and I have to alt_ctrl_dlt to close it. this happens everytime. My cousin suggested it was a problem with my graphics card, which is a Radeon 9600. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?

Let it sit for atleast 5 mins, the loading screens take a very long time to load on some computers. You can also add a command line (-console) to the launch options (right click HL2 under 'my games', properties) to disable the background map.

No, it said "Not responding" at the to. But I realized I didn't download the right drivers, so I did so, and now it is fine. Thanks anyway you guys.

Bah, I don't take the Task Manager status reports with a grain of salt. It'll read off a game that's working just fine as "not responding" becuase it's taking a while to load up a map.

Yeah, just be patient. That video card is DEFINETLY not the best, so it'll take you a few minutes to load up the bg.

Or, you could just place the -console commandline formentioned. I used to do that, but ever since I finished my new pc, it just takes a few seconds.

:hugsraptor:
