HL2 or just plain HL?

I ordered this game for Xmas, and yesterday, finally opened it, installed and started to play it and realized it was the first HL not HL2 and yet it is supposed to be HL2. There are five CD's in this game and I had assumed that I would start with the first CD. That gave me the first HL but not the second, which is what I thought I was buying.

How can I get into HL2 in this game package?

Grimsweeper: Thanks for your reply but from what I first put together, HL2 was listed in Steam games list as a demo, not as the full version, and I was getting a bit impatient as I had bought the full version, not a demo.

I found out later that in first installing HL2, I put in Steam's key code box the key code for the first HL instead of HL2 which I found later on the CD1's envelope on the reverse side. I was asked for whatever code I had for the game I was installing and I gave the code for the first HL and there are no installation directions that came with the game I bought. Had to figure the key code dilemma out on my own. After installing the game with the correct code, problem was solved.

I don't know who else might have run into this problem but if there is, I hope this finding of mine helps them.
