Wanna try out the HL2 Havok physics? go to http://www.havok.com/xtra/

and click on demos on the left side and click on rag doll on the bottom.
You can play the old demo which I think is better at the bottom or the new one at the top.

Honestly, I dont see what they could have modified, havok is quite good alone.

again I ask, what could they have heavily modified? The thing is great already.

I lovezor the mace and the raycast car raycast reminds me of the buggy thang in the E3 demo. Well I am sorry if this was already posted I tried to look but the search wasn't working for me.

i like tha stacking game and tha mace cloth is goodzor too but how will hl2 do cloth anyone know?? i kno clotheing isint simulated but other than that

if Havok does clothing then HL2 will. They took Havok and modified it, I doubt they would have toned anything down.

no actually the clotheing in hl2 is rather tame... although once again its highly possible with little modding

As you could see in the tech demo, the matrasses (the beige-green rubbish thing) behave like the cloth thing in the Havok demo, so I guess they could do cloth too if they want to.

Does splinter cell use havok to do cloth? I know that Splinter Cell has excellent cloth, you can interact with curtains and plastic sheets, I've been messing with it for 15 minutes walking through it etc, looked perfect to me.

i kno i loved that

and yes it was havok... and wind/ripple effects

havok vehicles suck
they dont have weight to keep em down so they are like sliding, flipping, and floating

Bullshit. The SC cloth is glitchy beyond beleif.

you click on the top download one has view online or something, and shockwave downloades it and you play

OMG! That Havok-site was like one of the most entertaining homepages I've seen in my entire life!!
Why haven't anyone told me about this earlier??

I am going to download the source for the old on(they have it there) change the dude into a Combine and change the balls in to bullet and change the background. Anyone with me?:afro:

Wow, it's great to have some physics coding experts on the forum.....

Not here it wasn't. Perhaps you have a 3D card that doesn't support a necessary feature? I'm not an expert but I've seen it with my own eyes, simple.

clothing effects are limited in HL2, I think they may have toned it down to save overhead (don't quote me on that).

If you want to see realistic clothing, I know Troika added really realistic clothing to their version of Source in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

They've obviously modified the physics to work in the ways that suits the Source engine. This would probably mainly include altering the settings that are already predefined within the physics engine, just slight tweaks to alter the way the physics are executed to Valve's speciifcation and preference. They'd have to heavily code to encorporate it into Source. And shit like that. I have no idea really, but that's what I would have thought would be the case.
