HL2 Prima Strategy Guide release date

somehow i think we may see this slip.
surely you cant write a strategy guide unless you have the game.
how will this work with Prima?

Strategy guides are often written from beta version of the game while it’s still in play testing, which is why there a waste of money for anyone with web access who can get better information for free.

Not unusual at all. All those Prima guides are written as the game is being developed.

Yeah, they may be written from the beta. But I dont think i've ever seen a prima guide come out 2 months before the games does!! (if hl2 were to come out in nov)

Sadly I have. I’m not saying HL-2 will or will not be delayed you understand, just don’t read to much into the strategy guide being released.

The MOO3 strategy guide was released months before the game, because the game was delayed for a complete redesign. Which also made the guide massively inaccurate by the time the game came out.

I guarantee you everyone would rather play the game than read about it. People who buy the guide before the game comes out will generally be doing it so they can be the ones to post new information and screenshots, which I hope the mods will mark as spoiler threads so I can avoid them.

actually, i had the dreamcast version of half life on reserve before it came out, and the guide came out a few weeks before the game was supposed to hit shelves...well i bought the guide and was all psyched for the game. yah, the game itself NEVER came out...so I for one, will never base a guide release on a game release.

I will not try to 'Prima Strategy Guide' my way thru the game , that's kinda lame.

Because I'm a sucker, I'll probably buy the strategy guide for the "extras" (character bios, location descriptions and the like) I won't use it to play through the game on the first play through though.

(BTW, this is my first post after lurking for a few months)

because there based on the beta doesnt mean anything, the process of the game is already fixed way before its even beta
