im confused..

halflife 2 is due for release soon, now how is this going to be done?

1. it will be uploaded to your pc so you will need to "unlock" it online using a creditcard?

2. you have to go out and buy a cd?

3. you still need to go out and buy a cd but part of the game is uploaded through steam *( and obviously its automatically updated through steam)?

can some one give me a answer that they are sure of.. as i cant seem to work out which it is by lookin on this forum or on any other site>?

You can either preload it through steam, so that the files are on your pc when the game is released, or you can go out to the shops and buy a copy the old-fashioned way. Apparently, you will still need to register though steam either way.

Or you can preload, go out and buy a copy, and you'll be able to play by registering that cd-key so you'll never have to touch your precious cd's/DVD.

Yeah I got that HL2 card thingy that gives you the game for free, but I gotta wait 4-6 weeks instead. :(

You can go to the shops and buy a fancy box and a dvd or 6 cds worth of GCF's (which have been compressed so none are larger than 600 mbs so they fit on cds... if you have a good connection, you should pre load as many think it will be cheaper, having no publisher and all.
