hl2 soundtrack

Ok the soundtrack is pretty awesome. If I load up halflife or svencoop through steam while hl2 soundtrack is in the tray, It will play a track from the cd. Why is this? I noticed everytime I enter a new chapter in halflife it plays another song from the CD.

I think HL1 has a feature that you put a music CD in and it will play tracks from that CD instead of from the game.
